Getting prequalified for a home loan is an essential first step in the buying process. Find out exactly how much home you can afford based on your income, debt, and other factors. It can also help you lock in a good interest rate and it puts you in a stronger bargaining position with the seller once you find the home you want.
Here are the preferred lenders that I work with. Give them a call and see who you connect with. Ask them to send you a list of the documents that they are going to be requiring from you so have a check off list and you will know upfront all the documents that you will need to get around. Ask them how the interest rates work and how your credit score affects them. I also suggest that you keep everything in a folder or file, as sometimes they will require some of the same documents more than once…
